Courier Delays

The Indiana State Library announced in late June that Evergreen Libraries will switch to a new delivery vendor for interlibrary loans (a.k.a. ILLs or transits). This service is a large undertaking with over 400 participating libraries and hundreds of stops scheduled Monday through Friday. When a new vendor starts a large project like this, there will be issues as new routes are established and new drivers are trained. The target date to be back on track is mid-October. If there is something you want, please contact the staff and we will do our best to get it for you as soon as possible.

What does this mean for LHPL patrons?

You may see items in your account that say “in transit” or “waiting for item” for several weeks. Items that you have requested from outside libraries may take longer to arrive.

Should I cancel my pending holds?

Probably not. Canceling holds could cause you to wait longer for items because it will move you to the end of the line. We are still receiving items daily, just fewer than normal.

Can I do anything to speed things up?

1) Check Libby! You can still access the Indiana Digital Library with the Libby app or by visiting Libbyapp.com to check out ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines.

2) Confused? Give us a call, and a library staff member would be happy to help you place a hold on the item that is most likely to be the quickest to arrive.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this change may cause. We are in communication with the Indiana State Library about finding solutions for the delays that are occurring.
