Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get a library card?
Adults must show a photo identification and proof of residence. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present, and proof of residence.

Your library card may be used at over 125 Evergreen libraries in the state of Indiana.
Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards.
Only the owner of a card may check out items on that card. Lost or stolen cards
should be reported immediately. The Library card replacement fee is $2.00.

What are LHPL's overdue fees?
A customer with $10.00 or more in fines is automatically suspended from library privileges until the fines are paid.

Do you have a computer lab?
Computer lab usage is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Young adults are not allowed in chat rooms such as Facebook or Myspace.
Patrons may sign up for 60 minutes at a time and may request additional time depending on availability.
The computer lab will close 15 minutes before the library closes.
Children’s computers have limited internet access.

What is filtered in the computer lab?
All library computers are filtered and all users must refrain from inappropriate conduct while using computer resources or the Internet.

What are examples of inappropriate conduct?
Using library computer resources in a manner that violates federal, state, or local laws.
Interfering with, or disrupting, other library users, services, or equipment.
Attempting to gain, or gaining, unauthorized entry to computer files, records, data, communications devices, or other resources.
Displaying or printing obscene, abusive, violent, sexually explicit language or visuals.
Violating copyright laws and licensing agreements relating to software, files, and other resources obtained via the Internet.
Destroying, damaging, or disabling equipment, software, or data.
Soliciting minors.
Using public computers for personal monetary gain.
Participating in electronic betting or wagering via the Internet.

Does the library offer copier/fax services?
The Dale Branch has two copiers available for public use. The Chrisney Branch has one copier. 
Black and white copies are 10 cents per page, and color copies are 25 cents per page.
Both Branches offer document faxing. The fee is $1.00 per page to send or $.50 per page to receive.
