Teacher Cards

To facilitate the Library's outreach efforts to teachers and schools, we are pleased to offer expanded access to library resources and services through our Teacher Cards. This card, available to Educators employed at Pre-K-12 North Spencer schools as well as staff employed at North Spencer daycares, camps, afterschools, and homeschooling parents. It is also available to teachers who reside in the library district but do not teach in North Spencer. The teacher card offers significantly more privileges than those available on personal cards.


Your new card includes a variety of unique privileges. Teacher cardholders may:

  • Borrow up to 150 items

  • Check out books and audiobooks for a loan period of 12 weeks with no renewals

  • Access LHPL’s INSPIRE database with hundreds of electronic resources databases.

  • Access downloadable books, magazines, and movies in OverDrive. (must live in the library district)

  • Buy 1 item get another free at our Underground’s Book Store.

  • Weekly email to the newest materials added to our collection via WOWbrary here.

How do I get one?

First, you must have a current personal card in good standing at your home library. Then, request an application for a Teacher Card at any Lincoln Heritage Public Library location or print out a downloadable form here. You must also provide proof of current employment as a teacher or educator and be prepared to present your teaching license, certification or paystub. Once registered, your card will be valid through June 30th of the current school year. To renew your privileges in the fall, present current documentation provided for your initial registration.


Is there a cost?

No. The teacher cards are free unless lost. There will be a $2.00 replacement fee for a new card.


I work at a daycare center. Do I qualify?

Yes! Certified daycare center staff may apply for a LHPL teacher card. Proof of certification must be provided at the time of registration/renewal.


I work as a homeschooler. Do I qualify?

Yes! You must provide current & valid certification of your status as a homeschooler to apply for a LHPL teacher card. Proof of certification must be provided at the time of registration/renewal.


Can I use this card at the Chrisney Branch?

Yes! Your teacher card is good at both locations, Dale & Chrisney.

Key to our outreach efforts to teachers and students is our online catalog. This catalog allows you to learn not only what resources are available at all LHPL locations, but to share those resources with your students and colleagues. You can access the catalog here.

What else do I need to know?

Your card comes with many privileges unique to your status as a teacher and is intended for professional use only. You must already have a LHPL card for your personal use apply here.   We encourage you to apply at either the Dale or Chrisney Branch.

The following are some important details about the privileges associated with your Teacher Card:

Borrowing Limits: up to 150 items may be checked out on your card at any time; 3 DVD maximum at once

Loan Periods: 12 week loan periods on any material from LHPL only; if items are loaned from another library, their loan period will supersede LHPL’s 12 week loan period  

Renewals: No renewals on 12 week items

Hold Requests: up to 30 holds allowed on eligible items for those who live in the library district (per Evergreen); please cancel any requests that you decide you no longer need

Fines:  standard fine rates apply to all items; excessively delinquent accounts will be blocked

Library Notices: will be e-mailed or texted to you with the contact information given on the application when a requested item is headed your way, when a borrowed item is nearing its due date and when an item is overdue

Card Expiration: your card will expire on June 30th of the current school year; renew before the upcoming school year.
